You Might Be Shocked By The Guys Favored To Win The Heisman

We’ve got some Heisman odds for the 2018 college football season, and most of you will probably recognize a lot of names on the list.

The top six in the Heisman odds, according to the Westgate Superbook, are as follows:

  • Stanford running back Bryce Love – 5-1
  • Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor – 7-1
  • Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa – 10-1
  • Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm – 14-1
  • Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert – 14-1
  • Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate – 14-1

There are two major observations for me right off the bat:

First, I’m kind of surprised that Tua Tagovailoa is third. The guy has played one half of college football. Is he talented? Yes, the man is incredibly talented, and we all saw that as he beat Georgia in overtime for the national championship. But are we really confident that he should be this high after taking so few snaps? There’s still no guarantee that he starts over Jalen Hurts, although I think he will. (SLIDESHOW: These Sexy Women Love Football)

Second, I’m glad that Jonathan Taylor is finally getting some respect. He should honestly probably be the favorite to win the award instead of second. I’ll live with being second right now because it gives me better numbers, but I’m not happy about it. The man was an absolute beast on the field last year, and figures to do the same thing this season for Wisconsin. He is dangerous whenever he has the ball. The Badgers win double-digit games, Taylor rushes for big numbers and I’ll be shocked if we don’t see him in New York.
