Here’s What Roseanne Might Do To Get A Spinoff Back On ABC

ABC’s reboot of “Roseanne” may be canceled for the time being, but its former star is doing all she can to get the show back on the air.

One of the measures she’s taking is pretty extreme, but it just might be the ticket. (RELATED: ABC Discussing Potential ‘Roseanne’ Spinoff Featuring Actor Sara Gilbert, But There’s A Catch)

According to new rumblings this week, Roseanne Barr has been “seriously considering” giving up any potential profits she might be due from a new spinoff.

It sounds like the only way producers could move forward with a spinoff is if Barr agreed to forgo her profits from the new show entirely.

“The idea of creating a spinoff — possibly focusing on another family member — that would allow the team to carry on without Barr quickly surfaced,” Page Six reports. “But many, including one of its showrunners, Whitney Cummings, balked at the idea that Barr would profit from the new version. We’re told Barr is now open to cutting herself out of a spinoff entirely.”

It’s still not clear whether ABC will actually move forward with a spinoff. The reboot of “Roseanne” proved to be massively successful, however many critics speculated this was because Roseanne’s character — who was a Trump supporter — offered a fresh perspective from the entertainment industry.

Still, the cancellation was abrupt and few members of the show seemed ready to say goodbye to their roles.
